Champlain Canal, North from Skene Mt., Whitehall, New York
Description
The postcard depicts an aerial view of the Champlain canal as it winds towards the mountains. In the distance there are rolling mountains, woods, and a collection of unidentified buildings or a small town. The blue sky and clouds take up a third of the scenery. In the foreground, yet still distant from the viewer, are industrial facilities along the banks of the canal. On the right bank is a red factory building with a large smokestack. Closer, on the left bank there is a boatyard with several buildings, including a large gray warehouse with several canal boats docked at the facilities. This aerial view is an illustration or a hand-colored photograph. Printing information: card number (214023) [indicated on front side only].
