A view of a large boat in the process of construction, standing on a platform on a raised embankment near a canal, which flows between two embankments or landings, by a tree and grass covered hillside. There are animals, horses or mules, and a man standing by the boat, with a ladder reaching up to the boat. Piles of lumber and debris are scattered on both grassy embankments, with the first nearest embankment covered with a pile of lumber and a small pole, with some more individual pieces of lumber placed horizontally, in a train track design. These may be [presumably] "locks" used in hydraulic engineering or a platform. A second boat or cargo boat is floating on the canal, carrying covered lumber. A woman dressed in white and men onboard can be seen. On the hillside, utility poles with long electric wires attached can also faintly be seen. There is white spot on the bottom right corner of the card of unknown origin, which may be due to age, fading or damage. A white border runs around the edges of this black and white postcard.
