This color postcard depicts a catepillar track steam shovel owned by Cleveland and Son's. It is being used in building the Barge Canal and is sitting on the bank of the canal with a scoop overhanging construction site. At the rear of the shovel there is a pile of debris that has been scooped out of the canal. A leveled pathway for the dredge has been cleared on the embankment.
