Home of Jacob Purdy, historic house in White Plains. House located near North Lexington Ave. on Spring St. It was built by Samuel Horton and was bought by the Purdy family in the 1730s. The Purdy family remained in possession of the house until 1869. The house served as George Washington's headquarters during the Revolutionary War from July 23 to September 16, 1778. The house was placed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1979.
