Description

A pamphlet published by the Interborough Rapid Transit Company (IRT) in response to numerous requests for information concerning the proposed demolition of the Sixth Avenue elevated railroad. Although this pamphlet was published in 1930, the elevated railroad line was not closed until December 4, 1938 and was razed in 1939. The Independent Subway System (IND) Sixth Avenue line, the rapid transit line constructed underneath Sixth Ave was built from 1936 to 1940. It became the last trunk line of the IND system.
