The building on the left is Shuster Hall on the Bronx campus of Hunter College (now Lehman College, CUNY). Opened in 1957, Shuster Hall was constructed for $3,000,000 and housed the School of General Studies that began offering evening classes in February, 1961. The building to the right opened in 1960 as the Library. Shuster Hall is today used for administrative purposes; and the former Library building is now used for the Art Gallery and the Art Dept. Both buildings were designed by architect Marcel Breuer.

The Coliseum, erected in 1926 for the Philadelphia Sesqui-Centennial Exposition, before being removed and shipped to the Bronx in 1928 for reassembly. The frame of the structure was on the former site of an amusement park called Starlight Park on East 177th St. Later it was used for sporting events and for the rebuilding of heavy motor trucks and vehicles by the U.S. Army during World War II. In 1946, it was purchased by the Third Ave. Transit Corp. and remained in use as a bus garage until it was destroyed for the current garage.
