Champlain Canal, Whitehall, New York [front caption] (1front) [c0067ac1)
-
Description
-
A color postcard of the Champlain canal as it runs through Whitehall, NY. Front caption reads: "Champlain Canal, Whitehall, N. Y." [bottom of card]. A large canal boat floats tied up on the left bank of the canal in the foreground of the picture; a number of indiscernible buildings, some of them with loading docks, flank the left side of the canal until the waterway disappears around a sharp right bend in the distance. The buildings are surrounded and partly obscured by trees. - The right waterfront shows an indiscernible object sitting at the water's edge just before the bend; however, the focus is clearly on the left side of the canal with its dense collection of buildings built right on the water's edge and on the view up the canal. The shadow of an object falls across the canal shortly before the bend; in the distance, the sun is sparkling on the water.
